Joining Jesus Missional Community

What is a missional community?

"Jesus called out to them, "Come follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people." Matthew 4:19 NLT

Jesus calls all believers into a more intimate relationship with Himself and one another. One of the ways we grow in our faith and live out our faith is through sharing. A missional community provides a safe, fun, focused environment in which we, as followers of Jesus, can come together to talk about what Jesus is showing us in our lives. We can support one another through prayer, discussion, sharing our own experiences, and seeking God together. Consider this, Jesus equips the called and dear reader, YOU are called to share your faith with others. So, come, join the discussion and learn what Jesus is hoping to show you about fishing for people in your daily life.

How do I get involved?

The missional community began meeting in February 2016 to discuss the book, Joining Jesus on His Mission. They met bi-monthly for 8 weeks in a local coffee shop with co-leaders facilitating the discussions and prayer time. Currently, this Missional Community is in process of developing practical ways to walk alongside and support the population of people served through the Twin Lakes Food Bank (TLFB, directly across the street from Mount Olive). Attendees of the missional community and members of the congregation are being encouraged to use their gifts and talents to enrich the lives of others in the following ways:

  • Help someone create their resume to apply for a job

  • Provide short-term child care while a single mother attends a job interview

  • Provide transportation to a doctor appointment for a senior

  • Help a senior visit the TLFB

  • Offer short-term tutoring for a homeless child

  • Visit a shut-in served by the TLFB

  • Serve coffee in the Mount Olive parking lot and pray with people

  • If requested, pray and study the bible with someone

  • Garden support

  •  If you would like to get involved please contact: Nancy at
